Lindsay Lohan – The Complete Addict

Lindsay Lohan's face has changed somewhat in recent months. Surgery, d'ya think?

Wild child Lindsay Lohan began her career at a very young age and made her acting debut in the American soap opera ‘Another World’ when she was 10. One year later she played the role of both sly identical twins in ‘The Parent Trap’. Her career continued to soar when she landed leading roles in movies like ‘Mean Girls’, ‘Herbie: Fully Loaded’, ‘Freaky Friday’, ‘Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen’ and ‘A Prairie Home Companion’. Then, in 2004, Lohan launched a pop career, releasing two albums that earned praise in the media.

But as with many child stars and with everything going for her, she began to capitulate in epic fashion. One moment he world of glitz and glamour lay at her feet, with movie roles and projects presented to her on a silver platter. She was in a relationship with ‘That 70s Show’ star Wilmer Valderrama, and it seemed as though nothing could ruin the success she had achieved.

Well, almost nothing.

A familiar state to see Lindsay Lohan in; the girl loved her excesses

Lohan discovered the excessive side of the celebrity world and began drinking and consuming drugs to cope with the pressure. The usually well-styled actress was beginning to show up in tabloid magazines with unflattering images of her stumbling out of nightclubs intoxicated, barely able to stand up. She also stumbled from one relationship to the next, her love life becoming one of the main subjects of tabloid journalism.

The paparazzi began to follow her everywhere she went, like so many vultures hoping to get the next drunken photo of the deteriorating star. In 2006 she began attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for help with her addiction. Her antics ruined her reputation among Hollywood producers and directors and where she could once do no wrong, Lohan found herself struggling to land a role in anything.

She had her first stint in rehab in January 2007 at the Wonderland Clinic but after completing the 30-day stay she soon fell back into old habits.

In May 2007 she crashed her car and police found her in possession of cocaine. Further blood tests confirmed traces of the drug mixed with alcohol in her system and she was charged accordingly – driving under the influence of alcohol. She then checked into Promises Treatment Center for her second shot at rehabilitation. She left the clinic after a 45-day stay, but was again booked by police for driving under the influence of alcohol.

This led to a prolonged stay at the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center August and October 2007. During her time there she pleaded guilty to cocaine abuse and driving under the influence of alcohol and was sentenced to one day in prison, 10 days of community service, three years of probation, and was also instructed to partake in an alcohol education program. She released a statement through her spokesperson saying: “It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs.”

Lindsay Lohan in Machete. She was no saint in that film either

Despite claims that she’s cleaned herself up, Lohan, has continued to appear in photographs consuming alcohol and many attribute her behaviour to the negative influence of DJane Samantha Ronson with whom she had a year long relationship.

Lindsay’s father Michael, who has himself battled addictions in the past, spoke out about his daughter’s addictions and his fears that she could end up dead. His tumultuous relationship with his daughter was covered heavily in the media but he vowed to help her, saying: ”I’m going to get her off the prescription drugs that she’s on. I hate it when people talk about illegal drug abuse because it’s not just drinking and illegal drugs that kill you. Prescription drugs can destroy and kill a person and are sometimes harder to stop. Look at Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson.”

While Michael did not mention which prescription drugs his daughter is taking, he did make his sentiments towards her health clear. “You know why Lindsay’s not acting in feature films right now? Because she can’t. Because the girl with all the talent is hidden and buried deep inside this fungus that’s grown because of the prescription drugs. She can’t be herself.”

Diabetic Shock led to Casey Johnson's Death

Casey Johnson died alone as aresult of diabetes and drug overuse

The surprising death of Casey Johnson, heir to the Johnson & Johnson empire, initiated a media circus with some wild speculation as to what exactly caused the 30-year-old’s untimely exit. The scramble over the line dredged up many dirty secrets but the major assumption was that Casey’s death was related to illegal drug abuse.

The true verdict of her death came out a few weeks after her passing and was a damning vilification of the media’s lust for headlines over facts.

The coroner, who had initially performed an autopsy on Casey on January 5th, 2010, had to wait for toxicology results to be able to determine the true cause.

According to a report released by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, the heir died of diabetic ketoacidosis, a type of diabetic shock. The fact that she was diabetic and had been battling the disease since childhood was well known.

The media frenzy was sparked by the situation Johnson found herself in prior to her death; cut off from her family and with no income to pay her utility bills. She lived in squalid conditions and it is believed that although the diabetic complications ultimately killed her, the evidence of substance abuse certainly played its part too.

Casey Johnson and Tila Tequila

Her lover, Tila Tequila, said at the time: “I always knew she died of natural causes while others kept insinuating that she died of drug problems and kept airing dirty secrets from her past.

I knew the real Casey before she died, and the Casey I knew was absolutely nothing like what the media and ex-friends made her out to be then everyone pointed the finger at me,” she continued. “I loved Casey and will never ever stop loving her. I’m glad she is resting in peace now.”

Another famously flawed friend, Lindsay Lohan tweeted: “’r.I.p. To a friend to and of many – Casey Johnson – my regards to her family, friends and her beautiful daughter Ava* you are in our hearts CJ.’

Casey was found dead at her home on January 4, 2010 and had been dead for several days before her body was discovered.

Lindsay Lohan's ongoing battle with addiction

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan has managed to get herself into more hot water with the law these last few months, having spent more time behind bars, once for violating her probation, and another for failing a drugs test.

Just as things were beginning to look up and having just finished a stint in rehab courtesy of Betty Ford the fresh-out-of-jail star now has a cumbersome felony for grand theft hanging pendulously over her head.

During an interview with ABC News, the 24-year-old’s mother defended her troubled daughter.“I think it’s gonna be a lifelong struggle with addiction. But I think she’s gonna be okay,” she told Chris Cuomo. “She’s a young girl struggling. You know, she’s not perfect…She’s learning as she goes, but she’s learning under a microscope, so I can’t even imagine how that is.”

Dina Lohan believes her daughter’s downfall began in 2004 when she moved to LA at the age of 18. “I knew early on, I just didn’t tell anyone about it. It was a personal situation,” she explained. “You know, you have to be ready as an individual. It’s not just gonna happen. You have to hit your own bottom.”

Lindsay Lohan released from rehab

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan left rehab today after a three-month stay at the Betty Ford Center.

Having spent last year moving back and forth between jail and rehab things might finally be looking up for the actress as her place of residence will be a luxury house in the Venice Beach area that costs just under $7,100 per month for four bedrooms and bathrooms and is located just across the road from her ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson.

Workers are currently busy moving Lohan’s furniture from her apartment in West Hollywood into the luxurious mansion and so for the moment she is staying in a boutique hotel in LA, according to RadarOnline, and will remain there until the new pad is ready to inhabit.

On New Year’s Day, just before her scheduled release, Lindsay tweeted: “Today is the first day of the rest of my life. The future depends on what we do in the present.’ -Mahatma Gandhi… One step at a time…”

Lindsay Lohan in more trouble at rehab

Lindsay Lohan

Just a day after reports claimed that the FBI is investigating Lindsay Lohan’s stalker, news has emerged that the wild child is facing yet more trouble at her rehab center.

Lohan now finds herself in the midst of a criminal battery case after it was alleged that she had an altercation with a member of staff at the Betty Ford Center after she returned to her living quarters ten minutes after curfew.

The 24-year-old is now under investigation by the Palm Desert Police Department, and is being accused of “hand to hand battery” against the as yet unnamed female staff member.

The child star has countered the accusations saying that the staff member put her hands on her, and was over zealous in shouting unfairly at her for breaking the curfew and says that her actions were only in retaliation to the threat posed by the woman. The argument escalated with Lohan apparently telling the woman to, “Take your hands off of me” before trying to push her away.

The staff member apparently wants Lohan to face prosecution for charges of battery, and once the investigation is concluded, prosecutors will review the evidence and decide whether to press charges.

Lohan is still on probation after her arrest in 2007, and could face a six month jail sentence if she is found to be guilty.

Lindsay Lohan's mom admits daughter is addict

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan’s mother has admitted that her wayward daughter is an addict, during an appearance on the Today Show.

In previous interviews, mother Dina had denied Lindsay’s condition and  instead blamed the judge handling the case, according to The People. When questioned by Today’s Matt Lauer why she had done so, she responded: “That was for Lindsay to admit. As a mother it wasn’t for me to come to tell the world … about her problem. That was for her to do. I wasn’t in denial.”

She also commented on Lindsay’s stormy relationship with her father, saying that  it would be good for her daughter if their relationship could be fixed, but also giving her support to “whatever the facility wishes for her. It’s all about Lindsay and her healing.”

Dina also commented that her daughter had already seen some positive improvements since she checked into the Betty Ford Center in California, recently.

“She’s just a different person,“ Dina told Lauer. “She’s been in a couple facilities, but this one to me has really changed her…Lindsay wants to stay, she’s learning the trigger points and why she turns to drugs.“

And, according to her mother, the young actress might be thinking about opening a rehab centre of her own. “She wants to start her own facilities, help other children,”

Lohan was ordered to enter rehab after she failed a drugs test.

Lindsay Lohan released back into the mall

Lindsay Lohan has officially been released from house arrest. The actress, who is to turn 25 on the 2nd of July, has done the time in her lovely Californian townhouse and even let out early because she is a nonviolent offender.

Lohan was sentenced after pleading no contest to stealing a $2,500 necklace from a shop.

Apparently California is experiencing some budgetary and jail overcrowding issues. The method for calculating time behind bars also applies to home detainees, sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told People magazine. Her original sentence called for four months in jail but it was ruled instead, that she could serve it from the comfort of her own home.

Lohan before she discovered drugs, alcohol and theft

“She completed her home detention today and she’s now back under the supervision of the courts and probation,” said Whitmore.

But it’s not all over for poor old Linds. She’s still got her community service work at a women’s shelter in LA to think about and the much-anticipated janitorial duty at the LA county morgue.

Her representative says: “She is very focused on resuming her community service obligation.”

She is apparently also going to continue psychological counselling, ordered by the court, and will undergo a program called Shoplifters Alternative.

Lohan remains on probation for her Driving Under the Influence charge in 2007, but is apparently no longer subject to random drug and alcohol tests.

After being charged with stealing the necklace, the Mean Girls star released a statement saying:

We don't know what the necklace Lindsay stole looks like, but maybe it was something like this.

“I am glad to be able to put this past me and move on with my life and my career. I support the judge’s decision and hold myself accountable for being in this situation.”

Lohan added that she has already begun her community service at a women’s center and says she hopes to “fulfill my obligation without any press attention.”

“I think the media spotlight should be on issues such as homelessness and domestic violence instead of on me,” she said.

She’s not wrong there. But for some reason people just can’t get enough of car crash celebrities. Linds should clean up her act and make a decent film, in my opinion, then we can all move on.

Lindsay 'Lilo' Lohan is thrown in prison then bailed back out again

Famous-for-being-famous ex-ginge Lindsay Lohan found herself back behind bars yesterday having stolen jewellery from a jewellers in LA, re-establishing herself as a bad girl and garnering more, yet more, give it to me, give it to me, delicious publicity to further her career as a ‘famous’.

Much like in most of the celebrity’s acting roles, Lilo demonstrated absolutely no discernible emotion as she was led away, with her lawyer promising that she would be appealing – and within just a few hours, the notorious child star was released after 75,000 bucks in bail was posted.

Lindsay Lohan is no stranger to drinking in bars

The she-devil landed herself in the slammer after a decision by LA judge, Judge Sautner, who accused her of trying to get away with petty criminal offences because of her status and violating the conditions of her probation.

“I see intent here. I see a level of brazenness with ‘Let me see what I can get away with’,” said the judge.

The act breached Lohan’s probation from a previous drink/drive offense committed in 2007 and wound up with a 120-day holiday at the government’s pleasure. The 24-year-old talent vacuum has also been ordered to serve more than 400 hours community service, including 300 hours at a women’s centre, where she will be signing autographs and treated as if she were a princess during a royal visit.

[adsense]Astonishingly, all this awfully unwanted publicity came in the same week that news that Lilo had signed two film deals including a biopic of John Giotti, where she will be cast as his wife. This new completely unsought publicity could actually serve to promote the films and create exposure for the project well in advance. Shocking.

In any other walk of life, having a criminal record would mar one’s reputation and make it exceptionally difficult to find employment. Not so if you are beautiful and famous. Which seems fair.

Lohan has acted in a number of dreadful films since 1998, for which she has won no awards.

She is often described as ‘troubled’, although if she weren’t a celebrity, the term ‘spoiled’, would probably be pertinent.

Famous people who have spent time in the slammer include Johnny Cash, 50 Cent, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and Kiefer Sutherland.

Other people whose names we are familiar with who haven’t spent long enough incarcerated include Paris Hilton.

Top celebrities with ginger hair we’d like to see in prison include Geri Haliwell, Lindsay ‘Lilo’ Lohan and royally famous, Prince Harry.

Lindsay Lohan receives another knock as Samantha Ronson pictured kissing another girl

Rumors surfaced just last month that Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson might be getting back together again when they were spotted going home together after a night on the town, but new pictures that show the trouble magnet’s former flame in a passionate clinch with a mystery girl will have certainy put a damper on Lindsay’s hopes of reuniting.

According to TMZ, although the two aren’t officially a couple, Lindsay is feeling” hurt and betrayed”, especially as — according to an unnamed source — Samantha told her just this morning that she loves her.

Things seem to be going from bad to worse for the Hollywood star, who on Wednesday refused the plea deal amid allegations that she stole a $2,500 necklace. “She was never going to plead guilty to a crime she didn’t commit,” her mother Dina told “All along Lindsay has never wavered regarding her innocence.”

Innocent or not,  the 24-year-old actress will have her preliminary hearing on Aprill 22. As if that wasn’t enough to keep her on her toes,  the DA is launching an investigation into the allegations that she attacked a Betty Ford employee.

And for the cherry on top, she now also has to deal with the fact that Samantha has a new love interest. According to TMZ, Lindsay plans on confronting her ex later on today. Where Lindsay goes, drama is always sure to follow. Do you think she will manage to stay on her path of sobriety, or is she close to cracking again?

Lindsay Lohan's kleptomaniac past out to haunt her

Trouble magnet Lindsay Lohan has been hit with another blow upon learning that should she deside to shun the plea deal, tough-as-nails Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers will shine the light on her thieving past. And it isn’t a pretty picture.

“There is very damaging information about Lindsay’s past evidence of thefts,” a source told RadarOnline. Indeed, rewind back to 2009 when, although no charges were brought against her, Lindsay was the subject of speculation when jewels to the value of about $500,000 went missing during a cover photo shoot for Elle magazine. Add to that the time she was accused of stealing a mink coat to the value of $12,000,  and the disappearance of a $35,000 Rolex. There definitely seems to be a recurring problem at hand.

“Lindsay was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department last spring after a friend reported that after leaving the Rolex at Lohan’s apartment, it wasn’t returned immediately,” the source said. ” Actually, it was quite a bit of time later that the watch was returned to the person. The watch was valued at a whopping, 35k, and like the current theft case, Lindsay was photographed wearing the watch. Lindsay wasn’t charged in that case because the victim became uncooperative as soon as the watch was returned. The D.A. will be sending investigators out from the office to talk to the victim. Meyers wants to know if there was a financial pay off”.

If Lindsay doesn’t accept the plea deal she will appear in court on April 21st for her preliminary hearing on felony theft charges for the theft of the $2,500 necklace from a jewelry store in California. If that is the case, Meyers will, according to the source, establish a pattern of behavior that will prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Lindsay is guilty.

We know Lindsay hasn’t exactly been raking in buckets loads of cash lately, but she is hardly so cash strapped that she has to resort to stealing.  Do you think she fits the profile of a kleptomaniac — someone who has the compulsive urge to steal for no great gain, when he or she has enough money to pay for the item and no need for what is stolen?
