Lindsay Lohan released back into the mall

Lindsay Lohan has officially been released from house arrest. The actress, who is to turn 25 on the 2nd of July, has done the time in her lovely Californian townhouse and even let out early because she is a nonviolent offender.

Lohan was sentenced after pleading no contest to stealing a $2,500 necklace from a shop.

Apparently California is experiencing some budgetary and jail overcrowding issues. The method for calculating time behind bars also applies to home detainees, sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told People magazine. Her original sentence called for four months in jail but it was ruled instead, that she could serve it from the comfort of her own home.

Lohan before she discovered drugs, alcohol and theft

“She completed her home detention today and she’s now back under the supervision of the courts and probation,” said Whitmore.

But it’s not all over for poor old Linds. She’s still got her community service work at a women’s shelter in LA to think about and the much-anticipated janitorial duty at the LA county morgue.

Her representative says: “She is very focused on resuming her community service obligation.”

She is apparently also going to continue psychological counselling, ordered by the court, and will undergo a program called Shoplifters Alternative.

Lohan remains on probation for her Driving Under the Influence charge in 2007, but is apparently no longer subject to random drug and alcohol tests.

After being charged with stealing the necklace, the Mean Girls star released a statement saying:

We don't know what the necklace Lindsay stole looks like, but maybe it was something like this.

“I am glad to be able to put this past me and move on with my life and my career. I support the judge’s decision and hold myself accountable for being in this situation.”

Lohan added that she has already begun her community service at a women’s center and says she hopes to “fulfill my obligation without any press attention.”

“I think the media spotlight should be on issues such as homelessness and domestic violence instead of on me,” she said.

She’s not wrong there. But for some reason people just can’t get enough of car crash celebrities. Linds should clean up her act and make a decent film, in my opinion, then we can all move on.

Lindsay Lohan faced with jail if she accepts plea bargain

“Go to Jail. Go directly to Jail. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.”  Lindsay Lohan will be dished this card if she accepts a plea deal in her grand theft case.

The 24-year-old troulble magnet appeared in court today for a hearing on a charge that she stole a pricey necklace from a jewelry store.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz told the fresh-out-of-jail-and-rehab star: “I’ve never met you before the last court appearance… I treat everybody the same. I don’t care that you’re Lindsay Lohan.”

“I don’t want you to be a repeat offender in the system. I want you to get on with your life and reach whatever potential you have. Quit causing your family additional stress,” the judge continued.

“I don’t care that you’re Lindsay Lohan vs. Jane Doe. It doesn’t affect me. This case does involve jail time. Period. If you plead in front of me, you are going to jail.”

The 24-year-old actress has been in all kinds of renewed trouble with the law these last few months, including two stints behind bars, one for violating her probation for her 2007 DUI conviction and another, albeit extremely brief, for failing a drugs test.

If convicted for stealing ‘the one of a kind’ necklace, Lindsay could face up to three years in state prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Drug trafficking Sam Jones III faces 20 years behind bars

Actor Sam Jones III, best known for playing Peter Ross of the television series Smallville, has a possible 20-year prison sentence looming over him for his involvement in several major drug deals.

The 27 year old, who pleaded guilty to drug charges on Thursday, was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Agency for drug trafficking last year in October.

According to court documents, Jones was the “Hollywood connection” in a conspiracy to sell over 10,000 Oxycodon pills, also known as ‘hillybilly heroin’.

The actor, who played Craig Shilo in the series Blue Mountain State, also made headlines a while back when a sex tape with his girlfriend, former Playboy Playmate Karissa Shannon, was released.

Lindsay Lohan’s health ‘at risk’ when she leaves rehab

Lindsay Lohan still has a few months to go before leaving rehab, but her management is already busy lining up projects for her. Now, the 24-year-old’s friends have said they are concerned that plunging straight back into work after intensive treatment is only going to be detrimental to her health.

Lindsay “shouldn’t be working the first week. She shouldn’t be working the first couple months. She needs to be attending daily meetings to stay on track for sobriety,” one friend told TMZ. Another added: “Lindsay needs to focus on herself for some time.”

The comments came after the actress herself said she was worried that extensive time as an inpatient in rehab could be damaging to her career. At her most recent hearing yesterday, Lohan was told she would have to stay in rehab until at least January 3 2011.

Court papers seen by TMZ state: “The defendant says her clothing line is falling apart because she is not available to monitor the product.”

Additionally, LiLo said she was due to begin filming a new movie in November, but according to the news provider the director said he will wait for her.

The person in charge of writing the documents told TMZ that although Lindsay has desribed the stint as a positive experience, she “needs to continue to work on her issues in order to save her life.”

Over the past year, Lohan has been in all kinds of renewed trouble with the law. After attending a rescheduled DUI (driving under the influence) progress report hearing in May, she was told she had to attend alcohol education classes, wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet and participate in random drugs tests in order to remain free on bail.

At a hearing in July, the judge found that the actress had violated several terms and sentenced her to 90 days in jail plus a 3-month stint in rehab. She served 14 days in jail and stayed in rehab for 22.

In September, LiLo failed a drugs test and was hauled back to jail, where she stayed just one day before being granted bail. She then voluntarily entered the Betty Ford Center to begin treatment. Her next hearing in scheduled for February 25 next year.

The 29-year old hip-hop star, real name Clifford Harris Jr.,  is heading back to prison for violating the terms of his parole when he was caught on September 1 on Sunset Blvd.  He was caught making an illegal u-turn and found in possession of a controlled substance following which he failed a drug test.

T.I.’s lawyer argued that the drugs were prescribed to the rapper after painful dental procedures were carried out but the judge was not convinced by the story and sentenced T.I. to 11 months.

Rapper T.I. has been ordered to report in and begin serving his time within the next two weeks. His sentence will be carried out at a prison in Atlanta.

Last week he talked a suicidal man down from a skyscraper (click here to read more) but it is not known whether his act of heroism was taken into account by the judge when sentencing him.

Earlier this month we reported the rapper and his wife’s involvement in a new project aimed at helping people with Alzheimer’s disease. after both their fathers died with the illness.  T.I.’s wife, Tameka Cottle was so moved by her dad’s decline that she set the organization up to support sufferers and carers alike.

For the next 11 months at least she will have to carry the torch for Love Of Our Fathers by herself.  Read our article about Rapper TI and his wife here.

George Michael released early from jail

Singer George Michael, who landed himself a stint in jail after being arrested for crashing his car under the influence of cannabis, has been released after serving just half of his 8 week sentence.

The former Wham! star seemed to be in high spirits as he spoke to reporters outside his home in London: “I’m coming out here on my own so that you’ll realise I just want to start again.

“I’m going to try to stop running away from you guys. You’ll get sick of me. You’ll see me about.
“I just want to say thank you for everybody who has supported me in there, it’s quite inspirational.”

As reported by Daily Mail, the 47-year-old singer was moved to the more cushy good behavior unit of Highpoint after spending three nights in London’s tough Pentonville prison. Highpoint is also referred to as Hi-de-Highpoint, named after the TV holiday camp comedy because of its relatively lax regime. Other inmates were not particularly impressed with Michael’s apparently preferential treatment; it’s the norm for prisoners to have to wait for months, sometimes even years, before they receive a place on the wing.

Images of Lindsay Lohan with ‘syringe of heroin’ have surfaced

Lindsay Lohan has making the headlines for all the wrong reasons lately. The troubled star was due to spend 30 days behind bars after failing two drug tests and testing positive for cocaine, but just 15 hours into her sentence bail of $300,000 was posted and she was released, reports Daily Mail. Instead of donning the rather unflattering orange prison uniform, she will be required to be fitted with SCRAM alcohol-monitoring device.

There seems to be no end to the drama that is Lindsay Lohan’s life. In the latest turn of events, shocking images have surfaced that show the actress with a tourniquet wrapped around her arm, and holding what appears to be a syringe of heroin.

The pictures, which were released byNews of the World, are believed to have been taken in 2007. A source told the newspaper: “What no one knows for certain is just how often Lindsay does drugs – or exactly which drugs she does.

“Lindsay has made no secret of her drug addiction. People are used to seeing her off her head.”

In the same year, as reported by Daily Mail, Michael Lohan claimed his daughter was addicted to Oxycodon, also referred to as ‘hillbilly heroin’.

Lindsay recently tweeted: “Substance abuse is a disease which doesn’t go away overnight. I’m working hard to overcome it. I did fail my recent drug test. I’m prepared to face the consequences.”

Let’s hope Lindsay receives all the help and support she so clearly needs to get herself back on track again.

Lindsay Lohan handcuffed and carted off to jail

It was befitting of a scene straight out of a Hollywood movie when the troubled starlet was handcuffed and hauled to jail. But unfortunately for Lindsay, there was nothing scripted about this particular scene.

“It is a wake-up call,” father Michael Lohan told E! News at the Beverly Hills courthouse this morning.

“But jail is not good for anyone. It doesn’t rehabilatate anyone…She needs to get into rehab and get away from some of those people.”

Judge Elden Fox clearly had less sympathy for the 24 year old when he refused Lindsay’s lawyer’s request for bail. And so Lindsay will be facing the consequences of her two failed drug tests earlier this month and spend 30 days behind bars at the Lynwood Correctional Facility, a place she is all too familiar with after having already spent 13 days there earlier this summer.

Kitted out very elegantly in a pleated cream skirt, black top and blazer, and a towering pair of heels, People reports that the actress looked stunned and was crying as she was handcuffed and driven to the women’s jail.

It was a freaky friday indeed for the Freaky Friday star, who will be passing many an interminable hour in a gloomy looking cell, equipped with nothing but a basic bed, sink and toilet – a far cry from the glitz and glamor she is used to.

Time to face the music.

Paris Hilton strikes plea deal to avoid prison

Paris Hilton, who is no stranger to prison following her stint in 2007, has escaped being put behind bars for a second time after striking a plea deal with prosecutors. Instead, The Daily Mail reports, she will serve a year of probation following her arrest for being in possession of cocaine.

The 29-year-old heiress was stopped by police on 27 August when they noticed marijuana smoke trailing from the car she was driving. They carried out a search and found a small bag of cocaine in her purse, resulting in her arrest. An arrest which could have seen the socialite forced to put her glamorous life style aside while spending up to four years in prison, it was reported.

Although Paris initially refuted the claims of drug possession, the reality star has clearly changed her tune and will now escape being incarcerated after a guilty plea deal was reached. As reported by Radar Online, she will instead serve one year of probation, which will involve 200 hours of community service. She will also be required to complete a drug abuse program and pay a $2,000 fine.

This is the heiress’s third drug-related brush with the law. Earlier this year she was detained during the World Cup in South Africa on suspicion of marijuana possession, but a female friend later admitted possession of the drug.

In 2007 she spent 23 days behind bars after pleading no contest to charges of reckless driving and DUI.

Paris Hilton is going to have to make some changes her wild lifestyle and be on her best behavior during her probationary period. As reported by Daily Mail, Her District Attorney David Roger confirmed that if she commits anything more serious than a minor traffic offence, she will be jailed for one year.

Celebrities who have admitted to taking drugs include Kendra Wilkinson, Drew Barrymore and Mickey Rourke.

Lindsay Lohan out of UCLA center after 22 days of rehab

Tuesday saw the release of Lindsay Lohan from her drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that is located in Los Angeles, reported www.perthnow.com. Lindsay Lohan had to sign discharge papers to be able to get out of the center. Despite being sentenced to 90 days in rehab, she spent only three weeks there. This follows her 90-day jail sentence, which saw her released after two weeks. Lindsay had been at the UCLA center as a part of the inpatient treatment program.

The 24-year-old troubled actress will have her case heard in court today with a new judge after Judge Marsha Revel recused herself from the case.

There was a well crafted plan to get her out of the UCLA Medical Center so that the media attention can be avoided: three cars were present outside the center to take her out from the center and avoid paparazzi. A chauffeur driven car was waiting for her at the backdoor of the Medical Center, said the report in www.people.com.

Lindsay will continue treatment as she will receive outpatient care. She was released from the rehab following a testimony from the doctors who were of the belief that a 90-day sentence was too long for her. Her legal team had then successfully demanded the early release for her.

She was sentenced to three months in prison, followed by three months in rehab after violating the terms of her probation from a 2007 DUI case.
