Cher Defends Chaz Bono's Participation on DWTS.

Cher’s ‘new’  son – Chaz Bono – has signed up to appear on Dancing With the Stars (DWTS), a move that has cause mother Cher to rush to his defence following the usual slew of vindictive comments that have appeared on forums across the internet.

Why the fuss?

Chaz Bono and his partner on Dancing With the Stars

Chaz Bono and his partner Lacey Schwimmer on Dancing With the Stars.

Chaz Bono, was born Chastity Bono and only recently officially and legally changed sex from female to male. A move that was supported thoroughly by mom, Cher.

The abuse directed at him is the kind of vitriol transsexuals must have to endure as a daily occurrence. Yawn.

Vicious comments have appeared from pusillanimous internet trolls slamming his participation, and saying that he was born a woman and two woman should not be allowed to dance together on the show. Chaz is now male in the eyes of US law, but even if he still had a vagina the size of a watermelon, why can’t two women dance together on the show?

Some people are boycotting the show, saying that they will not watch it because there is a transgender contestant. Surely the only people who would give a shit are evangelical freaks and dribbling hillbillies who have no concept of what is realistically wholesome anyway. They probably think television is real. What sexuality the participants are on a TV show is really no one’s business but their own.

The 42-year-old will participate in the show, aired on ABC shortly, and will dance alongside professional dancer, Lacey Schwimmer.

Chaz Bono

Chaz Bono will participate on Dancing With the Stars, no matter what the generic hillbillies and religious idiots with their twisted family values say.

Like any good mom, Cher has protected her progeny on Twitter saying “This is still America right? It took guts 2 do it. I support him no matter what he chooses 2do! God! Will there always be haters! It took COURAGE 2 do dwts! T[hank] G[od] Chaz has an unlimited supply,” adding that mothers never stop getting angry when people attack their children.

Chaz tweeted back: “Thanks for all your support, mom. The haters are just motivating me to work harder and stay on DWTS as long as I possibly can.”

Chastity Bono officially became Chaz Bono in 2009, when he underwent irreversible surgery to reassign his gender from female to male. He had already begun taking hormones and underwent surgery to remove his breasts the year before.

I wish Chaz Bono nothing but the best luck in the world with his participation in Dancing With the Stars and applaud the program for their progressive attitude, even if it was just a publicity exercise.

Kathy Griffins takes a jab at Bristol Palin’s weight

During VH1’s Divas Salute to the Troops, host Kathy Griffin drew in a chorus of boos from the audience when she mocked Bristol Palin’s weight.

During her opening monologue, the red-headed comedian said the Dancing with the Stars paticipant was the “only contestant in the history of the show to actually gain weight.” Despite the soldiers and women in the audience clearly not seeing the humor in her words, Griffin continued with, “No, come on, come on. She gained like 30 pounds a week, I swear to God, it was fantastic. She’s like the white Precious.”

The former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s daughter has slammed back at the 50-year-old’s fat jibe, saying: “The audience’s reaction to this ‘comedian’ spoke volumes, and the decent people I know would probably have booed her, too.

“I hope people didn’t have to pay money to hear her negativity and criticisms.”

What makes Griffin’s fat attack all the more surprising is that she has suffered from some serious body image issues in the past, succumbing to showbiz pressure to have a nose job when she was young, exercising too much, starving herself, bingeing and liposuction. Wouldn’t one expect that, given her own experiences, she would steer clear of making such insensitive comments?

“Calling Bristol Palin fat is inappropriate and distasteful, even under the guise of humor,” body image expert and author of “Love Your Body Love Your Life,” Sarah Maria, told Pop Tarts. “The problem is that people, and particularly young people, easily absorb the ideas, beliefs, and attitudes that are presented to them. [It’s a problem] when someone makes critical comments about someone else’s body and weight, beliefs such as ‘fat is a horrible thing,’ ‘I am no good unless I am thin.'”

Dancing With The Stars is a double victory for Jennifer Grey

Dancing With The Stars has finally drawn to a conclusion after a season of twists, turns, shocks and surprises. The finale was nail biting until the very last minute of the show.

The media have questioned this season’s integrity after Bristol Palin continually defied the odds week after week, managing to remain ahead of better dancers like Audrina Partridge, and the public are wondering if the show is losing credibility over it.

So the big question is, who won this years Dancing With The Stars?

The number one spot eventually went to Jennifer Grey and none deserved it more than her.  At 50 years of age she signed up for the show which literally saved her life.

She took a general health check to see if she was fit enough to cope with the physically demanding show and also asked the doctor to take a look at a painful neck problem.  Just as well she did as upon examination he found a cancerous lump.

In an interview with Zap2It.com she said, “Last year, my neck was killing me, so I said to them, ‘Let me have it checked out and see if I even could do this.’ I went to this neurological spine surgeon who I heard was the best. I knew he had operated on Karina Smirnoff, and I figured I would tell him I wanted to do Dancing with the Stars and ask him what I needed to get through it.”

“I’d had a really bad car accident years ago, and basically, the ligaments in the back of my neck were ripped and I’d never addressed that. It degenerated, and the surgeon said, ‘Right now, your spinal cord is compressed. If you fell or got rear-ended, you’d be paralyzed.’ ”

“He also said to me, ‘What’s that lump in your neck?’ I said, ‘Oh, it’s just a benign nodule that I’ve been watching for four years.’ I didn’t want to have surgery for it, but he said, ‘That has to go.’ They took out half of it, and it turned out to be cancerous. Then they took the second half out on Christmas Eve.”

Since surgery Jennifer Grey has been transformed and winning Dancing With The Stars is testament to that, although reaching this stage in her life wasn’t easy.

“I was so frightened of the surgery, I didn’t want to even consider that it would be successful. And it was so successful, I proceeded to do everything else on my to-do list that I was afraid of, including doing this show.”

“I figure that if I don’t do it now, I’ll be too old for it. My body is clearly giving out. Now, I’ve got a new neck. And I also have no cancer”

Bristol Palin stars in safe sex video

Bristol Palin and Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino have combined forces again following their appearances together on Dancing With The Stars to film a new PSA aimed at preventing teen pregnancy.

The plot line is cheesey and the acting is B movie at best, but B. Palin (as The Situation calls her), is a staunch believer in abstinence before marriage, whereas Sorrentino advocates safe sex using condoms which he offers to Palin in the PSA.

The film makers used the Dancing With The Stars set as the basis for their PSA and The Situation makes a lame attempt to hit on Palin backstage using some of the most dreadful dialogue since a Schwarzenegger film.

“Excuse me, miss, have you ever had a situation with the official Situation,” he asks until realisation dawns and, “oh snap, B Palin.”

“You mean to tell me that girls actually fall for that line?” Retorts Palin, “I hope you’re as committed to safe sex as you are those abs.”

The Situation tries to test Palin’s belief in abstinence, something she has been promoting as a Candie’s Foundation Teen Ambassador for a year-and-a-half now.

“Come on B. Palin are you serious? Like you’re not gonna hook up before you’re married, like for real?” he asks.

Bristol Palin then explains “I know how hard it is to be a teen parent.”

Palin tells him she’s “for real” and The Situation tells her, “I totally respect abstinence. I mean, it actually has the word ‘abs’ in it. I mean, come on, I’m The Situation and I love that.”

The Situation stresses that abstinence isn’t his thing but he encourages viewers to use condoms.

“I actually practice a whole lot, I mean a whole lot… The safe part, we’ve got the safe part down pat,” He says as he pulls condoms from his pocket which he offers to Palin.  She declines with, “I avoid situations.”

Her mother, Sarah Palin, has previously spoken out about Bristol’s teen pregnancy and in an interview with ABC News’ Barbara Walters said, “there was that feeling of, Bristol – why? Didn’t you know there are things you could do to prevent this or not do it at all?”
