A recently conducted study has revealed the reason behind jet lag. According to www.sify.com, symptoms of jet lag and a host of other problems which occur while travelling to different places and time zones are caused due to misalignment of an individual’s own body clock with respect to external time.
The study has been conducted by a team of scientists at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Germany. The study also gave an insight into the molecular system of the body which leads to resetting of the internal body clock of an individual.
As reported by www.feeds.bignewsnetwork.com, the team of scientists carried out the study on a group of mice. It was also noticed that the adrenal glands shift the rhythmic production of the hormones which regulate the setting of the body clock. The study also states that the implication of molecular mechanism does not only cause jet lag, people who engage in rotating shifts at workplace also get affected by this.
The panel of scientists has also suggested the therapies to deal with jet lag. However, Mary Harrington, one of the researchers cautioned that it is important to know whether jet lag’s treatment is better for an individual than the naturally occurring slow adjustments. The study was published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation.
