Middle aged women ‘have better sex lives’


The 40s are mostly referred to as the age when women start getting laughter lines, wrinkles and hot flushes but, according to, there is more to it.  Reaching this age can mean the beginning of a new chapter in the life of a woman.

At this age women reportedly starts scaling new heights in their love lives and and reach their sexual peak. It has now been proved by scientists that women in their 40s and 50s have better and healthier sex lives, helping them have better relationships with their partners and improving their outlook on life and on themselves.

According to, women in their 40s and 50s have sex more often than their younger counterparts and find it more pleasurable as well. It has been noticed that most women between the age of 18 and 30 face difficulties in achieving an orgasm but the percentage reduces to only 43% when they are older.

Women in the age group of 46-54 have more pleasurable sex also and only 48% report difficulty in having an orgasm. 87% of the middle aged women had sex regularly and thus had a more active sexual life.

The research was carried out on 600 women belonging to different age groups. Dr Debra Fromer, who led the research, said that “Researchers have found significant-associations between major categories of sexual dysfunction, reduced physical and emotional satisfaction and general well-being.”
