It seems that the words “deformed nipple“ will always be pinned to Tara Reid. Ever since a catastrophic wardrobe malfunction in 2004, the actress has been pleading with the media to move on.
Reid had two rounds of botched plastic surgery in total. Shortly before the red carpet event in 2004, she had gone under the knife expecting a pair of “big Bs“. Instead she got Cs, which she didn’t want, she tells US Magazine. What’s worse, her nipples started to look deformed: “After six months of ‘it’s going to get better,’ it started to get worse and worse. I never thought I would have nipples that looked like this,” she says.
The embarassing moment occured when, unbeknownst to Tara, her dress slipped in front of photographers and revealed the entirity of her left breast.
“I was smiling like a fool and people were snapping away.“ Reid tells the magazine, “When I realized it, I cried and begged the photographers not to print it, but it was everywhere … I was on the Web sites as having the ugliest boobs in the world.”
Amazingly, the actress went back to the same surgeon for lipsculpting. This procedure was also a disaster, leaving Reid with a stomach that looked more like cellulite than a wash board and evidence of the botched job surfaced when she was snapped on holiday.
“My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing,” Reid tells US Magazine. “I had a hernia, this huge bump next to my bellybutton. As a result, I couldn’t wear a bikini. I lost a lot of work.”
But it was not just the surgery that threatened Tara’s career. Since her rise to fame, there have been no shortage of scandals surrounding the actress, who was well-known for her partying antics. In 2005, she agreed to do a reality show for E! channel, called Wild On Tara Reid (aka Taradise). The show was cancelled less than half a year after being aired for the first time due to poor ratings. She later confessed to US Magazine that agreeing to film the series was “probably the stupidest thing I ever did … I didn’t know it was going to ruin my career”.
In 2006, the American Pie star finally had the sense to seek proper help to mend her body. After a successful corrective procedure, she was back to her old self and, desperate to change her image, celebrated by doing a topless spread for Playboy magazine.
In a recent interview with PIX Morning News, Reid compared having the bad surgery to breaking an arm, which has since healed. She also talked about how those old images still haunt her.
“It wasn’t a good surgery, it happens sometimes. I got it fixed and now I’m OK, and I want people to know that I’m OK. I’ve been OK now for the last five or six years but people only show old pictures which is so unfair and that’s part of the reason why I did the Playboy shoot – to show the world this is me and this is what I look like,”
Reid now claims to be in a new and calmer phase of her life. She has several movies lined up and is looking forward to a brighter future.
