‘Survivor’ Palau’ star Jennifer Lyon has lost her battle with breast cancer. Placing fourth in the series in 2005, the contestant passed away after four long years of caner treatment and therapy.
Soon after filming the ‘Survivor’ series wrapped, Jennifer was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. In an interview to People, she said: “In the summer of 2004, I felt something in my right breast that didn’t feel normal. I thought it was probably scar tissue related to my breast implants. So I let it go – for a long time.”
Immediately following her diagnosis she had a double mastectomy and underwent chemotherapy. She also took tamoxifen, a medication that prevents recurrence.
The 37-year-old passed away at her home in Oregon on Wednesday.
‘Survivor’ host Jeff Probst said in a statement that he got back in touch with Jennifer several years ago and stayed in touch with her during her cancer treatment. In his words: “Her wisdom about how to live a life with quality seemed to grow with each passing day.”Tags: breast cancer cancer chemotherapy
