33 year old KANYE West admits he has considered suicide. The hit maker was absolutely devastated by the death of his beloved mother, Dr. Donda West in 2007. He has confessed to living through dark times in life but vows never again to sink to such depths as he believes there are so many people he would like to help.
In a frank and open interview with Ellen DeGeneres he said: “There were times that I contemplated suicide. I will not give up on life again. There are so many people that will never get the chance to have their voice heard. I do it for them.”
Atlanta born West revealed he is not afraid to face the future but following the loss of three more influential figures, all after his mother’s death, he hit the lowest point of his life. West feels he has come back stronger than ever.
“Everything has been taken away from me. I’m so not … scared. I so don’t care.” He said.
The controversial rapper took a break from music after last year’s MTV Video Music Awards during which he sabotaged Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video acceptance speech and continued to rant that it was a travesty and that Beyonce Knowles should have won.
He does feel the time away from music gave him a proper chance to grieve for his mother.
He told US TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres: “I left America. I stopped doing music altogether. It was the first time that I got to stop since my mom had passed. I had never stopped and never tried to even soak in all what had happened.
“It was time to take a break and develop more as a person, as a creator, and focus on my thoughts and ideas and what I wanted to bring to the world.”
He has hinted at the subject of suicide in his recent song Power, which includes the lines: “Now this would be a beautiful death. I’m jumping out the window. I’m letting everything go.”
