Rosie O’Donnell talks menopause

Former host and standup comedian Rosie O’Donnell does not talk things pretty when it comes to sharing her struggle with menopause. She rather courageously shared her experiences with her fans. Incidentally, she was heard many-a-times proclaiming that her close pal Madonna helped her through the menopause phase.

The star host revealed on ‘The Tyra Banks Show’ that she confides in the ‘Material Girl’ for every secret and said that it was Madonna who played guru to her and suggested ways to better cope with menopause. quotes Rosie as having said: “She’s [Madonna] great, she’s a lot like a big sister. When I started having my hormone things, I’m like, ‘What the hell is going on?’ she’s like, ‘Get the cream’.”

Rosie O’Donnell is well known in the industry and by her fans for being very outspoken. She never shied away when it came to talking about the changes taking place in her body.

During her interview on ‘The Tyra Banks Show’, Rosie said that she and Madonna exchange emails pertaining to menopause. “Well let me tell you one thing, Tyra: I am about to be 47 next month and Aunt Flow has not shown up for nine months,” OMG Yahoo News quotes her as telling the talk show host.

Apparently, menopause started for Rosie when she was 41 years old. At first she did not bother about her mood swings and tried to reason out the wet bed condition with herself. However, soon she came to terms with the fact that it was all happening due to her menopause. “I would be in the bed, and I would wake up and the sheets would be soaking wet — not damp — soaking wet,” she says, before adding she figured her daughter must have crawled into bed with her, and then wet the bed. “And then I realized, no it’s me.”

During her appearance on ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’, Rosie O’Donnell showed her new “menopause haircut” which had her almost bald near the nape of the neck with a covering of longer hair hiding it. It was basically to keep excessive sweating at bay.
