Hindu leaders up in arms with the release of a yoga video which shows Playboy’s 2007 Playmate of the Year Sara Jean Underwood in a series of naked poses.
The president of the Universal Society of Hinduism Rajan Zed criticized the world’s leading men’s magazine and was quoted by contactmusic.com as saying, “Hindus are upset over what is the misuse of the revered system of yoga by Playboy for mercantile greed and we are urging the organisation to withdraw all its yoga-related products.”
“Sara Jean Underwood wants you to gain an intimate understanding of her asanas, the various postures and positions practised in yoga, suggesting the next best thing to actually doing them in person is watching these sexy nude videos that are designed to raise your heart rate,” said Zed, who went on to add that yoga, a “serious mental and physical discipline“ is one of the six systems of orthodox Hindu philosophy and exploiting it in this manner would “hurt the devotees“ of this esteemed tradition.
Hindu leaders have asked the company to remove the racy video featuring the former Oregan State University student performing yoga positions in the buff.
Underwood’s association with yoga hasn’t always been quite so controversial. The petite 26 year old is a devoted yoga enthusiast and videos of her doing Bikram Yoga, clad in the appropriate yoga attire of course, can also be viewed online.
