Outkast rapper Big Boi faces fourth drug possession charge

It appears that Miami police have ruined the party for former Outkast founder member Big Boi after he was arrested for possession of ‘contraband’. His stash is said to include Ecstasy, MDMA and Viagra, the latter of which he carried without prescription.

Ecstasy tablets similar to those ceased during Big Boi's arrest.

Known mostly for his 2003 hit Hey Ya which he penned with Outkast partner Andre 3000 (Andre Benjamin), the feel good summer song which included the lyrics, “shake it like a polaroid picture” and Big Boi, real name Antwan Patton looks like he’ll be shaking it in court soon. Despite the case looming after a fourth count of possession of drug paraphernalia his attorney, Daniel Kane is confident that the rapper will avoid jail time. His statement read: “While Big Boi was travelling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage.”

“I am confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated.”

Big Boi was arrested for carrying MDMA.

The media, including the Miami Herald picked up on the news through the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department’s website where it was reported that Big Boi had been found in possession, stating that the Outkast singer was facing his fourth possession charge.

Details about the arrest are sketchy at the moment but it is thought Big Boi was met by customs officials after disembarking a cruise ship where upon they ceased a small amount of contraband. He was arrested and put in jail but after posing a bond he was released later the same day.

Big Boi and Andre 3000 formed Outkast and enjoyed great success.

Big Boi posted two tweets on his Twitter account, firstly, “Fresh Out Baby!” which he later followed with “…they said it was the Love Boat…”

Along with his musical pertner Andre 3000 he amassed significant wealth and success through the 2003 album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below and enjoyed critical acclaim and sustained chart success thatnks to the album’s big single Hey Ya.

No date has been set for court as yet.
