Nicole Richie in hospital for pneumonia

Nicole Richie has checked herself into an LA hospital with suspected pneumonia, according to the Associated Press. The actress and reality TV star was admitted to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is “doing well“ according to her representative, speaking to US Weekly.

The weekend prior to her hospitalization she reportedly posted a comment on social networking site Twitter, saying: “Ok cold, it’s been 6 days. Let’s part ways graciously and keep it moving.“

The 28-year-old was reportedly looking less than on form when she appeared in court prior to this, seeking a restraining order against two celebrity photographers, which was granted by the judge.

As a result of her illness, she has had to pass on the launch of her new line of jewellery, entitled House of Harlow, scheduled to take place on November 10th in LA.

Nicole Richie, daughter of soul legend Lionel Richie, has recently given birth to her second child with Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden. Her son, born in September was named Sparrow James Midnight Madden. The couple already have a daughter, 22-month-old Harlow.

Speaking to People magazine, Richie stated: “I couldn’t be happier. The only thing you want is for your kids to be healthy and happy, and they are. I’m right where I belong.“

Other recent visitors to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center include Mischa Barton, who was involuntarily hospitalized earlier in the year following serious worries over her mental wellbeing.

Friends of the actress allegedly made a call to the police fearing the 23-year-old was becoming suicidal after a prolonged period of alcohol and drug abuse in an attempt to cope with her personal and financial problems.

The same involuntary hospitalization, under Code 5150, was performed on pop princess Britney Spears in early 2008 following the breakdown of her marriage to Kevin Federline, and Mischa Barton.

Another celebrity who has battled pneumonia is Brooke Mueller.
