When Michael Lohan was rushed to a Massachussetts hospital two weeks ago after complaining of “intense pins and needles” in his left arm, he told reporters that he has been suffering from a heart problem for a while. He admits doctors told him several years ago he needed a heart procedure, or risk suffering a stroke. He also said he’d been taking medication for years.
“It’s either a blod clot or a blockage,” he said at the time, claiming he would visit with his doctor back home in New York to discuss his options.
Now, two weeks later, Michael had just returned to New York from a trip to Miami with his girlfriend, Kate Major, when he suffered what doctors believe to have been a mild heart attack.
After being rushed to St. Francis Hospital, doctors decided Michael needed to undergo an angioplasty as well as have stents placed in order to unclog blocked arteries, RadarOnline reports. Michael reportedly had the procedure done yesterday.
Prior to the procedure, Michael said he was receiving support from his family, including daughter Lindsay, with whom he has a strained relationship.
“The surgeons are hoping this will work but if it does not then I may well have to get an immediate by-pass operation,” Michael told RadarOnline exclusively.
“I’ve been through a lot in my life, been to jail, various court cases, even drove my Ferrari over a cliff once, so, it’s going to take a lot more than this to finish me off!”
