Malin Akerman to take Lindsay Lohan’s place in biopic about porn star

Lindsay Lohan was originally slated to star as Linda Lovelace in Inferno, but for a number of  undisclosed reasons director Matthew Wilder has replaced the troubled star with actress Malin Ackerman.

Although Lindsay’s reps are saying that it was her decision to pull out of the film, Wilder told RadarOnline: “We’ve fired Lindsay,” going on to say “we’ve already lined up somebody else who we are really happy with.”

Lindsay’s recent brushes with the law and her struggle with drugs have been well publicized by the media and she will remain at the Betty Ford Center where she is receiving treatment for her issues until the beginning of January.

As reported by US Magazine, the director revealed that the decision to replace Lindsay, 24, was for business reasons rather than personal ones. “We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support,” Wilder said. “Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her — and some other issues — have made it impossible for us to go forward.”

Malin Akerman,32, who made a name for herself in the Vince Vaughn comedy Couple’s Retreat, is busy filming Wanderlust in New York with Jennifer Anniston and Paul Rudd. There’s no news yet as to when shooting for Inferno will start.

Are you disappointed about the decision to replace Lindsay Lohan or are you more likely to watch the flick knowing that the Sweden-born beauty will be playing the role of famed porn star Linda Lovelace?
