Legendary entertainer Liza Minelli will be having knee-replacement surgery sometime next week. Her representative told People Magazine: “Minelli, who has been dancing on stage since she was a teenager, is 63. She is expected to make a fill recovery.”
The operation will take place in a New York hospital.
Minelli, who is a nominee in the category Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for her album ‘Liza’s At The Palace’, will have to cancel her appearance at the Grammys on January 31st as she is expected to still be recovering in hospital.
Liza, who claims she is otherwise fit and healthy, says it’s her busy lifestyle that helps her feeling good. Mixcom.au asked her what her secrets are: “Hard work and constant touring is a good start. When I am not touring and home in New York, I go to dance class every morning with my beloved Luigi at his dance studio. Between touring and Ron Lewis’s tough rehearsals, I’m honed like a tennis player, even if time has slowed me just a tad.”
The singer, who is the daughter of American actress Judy Garland, has celebrated a huge success with her career in entertainment. Beginning very young in theatre at the age of 17, she is now a legend and an icon of the industry.
But while she has been incredibly successful in her professional career, her personal life, especially her health, had some lows. Diagnosed with viral encephalitis (a swelling of the brain caused by a virus that can cause brain damage) in 2000, she entered rehab for an addiction to painkillers in 2003.
