Kyra Sedgwick has admitted to suffering from body image issues in a tell-all interview with ‘More’ magazine. Like many other women in the industry, Kyra had weight and food issues when she first started out in the acting business. When considering her beautifully slender and lean frame (especially at her age, 44), it is hard to imagine Kyra ever had issues with food and her body.
It all reportedly began after a 1985 movie, in which she had to lose weight to play a Holocaust survivor. She says having to lose 20lbs for the role in ‘War and Love’ kick started a vicious circle.
“Food has never been easy for me,” she says in the interview with ‘More’. “I came back from that, and it triggered something. I ate everything in sight. My weight went up and then too far down.”
Living with an eating disorder is tough, and she was finally able to break the cycle by throwing out her scales, refusing to be obsessed with a number.
“I’m so grateful that I don’t get on a scale because it’s never going to be the right number.”
