Fitness trainer Jillian Michaels does not want to have a child biologically due to the damage it will do to her body, according to Women’s Health.
The 36-year-old star, who is famous for working on ’Biggest Loser USA’, told the magazine: “I’m going to adopt. I can’t handle doing that to my body,” The Huffington Post reported. “Also, when you rescue something, it’s like rescuing a part of yourself.”
Michaels is 5’2 and weighs 120 pounds, but was reportedly overweight as a kid, weighing in at 175 pounds at her heaviest. She lost the excess fat due to martial arts, according to The Huffington Post, which she has been practising for 20 years now.
The trainer’s comment caused controversy and set off a storm among mom bloggers. For that reason, Momlogic talked to the star to gain some clarification on what she actually meant.
Michales told the news provider that her remarks were taken out of context and misconstrued. In fact, there is one important reason why pregnancy would be difficult for her:
“The truth is, I learned very early on that I have endometriosis and polycystic ovaries. I was always told that fertility would/could be a problem for me.“
“In order to get pregnant, I know it would require surgery,“ she explains. “For me, it becomes a sort of ’I can’t handle doing that.’ I’ve always just accepted that this is my thing, and this must means I was meant to adopt, and that’s OK.“
Another celebrity to suffer from endometriosis is author and actress Padma Lakshmi.
