Hip-hop rumors: Inspectah Deck is not dead

The 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards took place on Tuesday, October 12, and shortly thereafter news spread like wildfire  all over the web that Wu-Tang Clan member Jason Hunter, who is better known by his stage name Inspectah Deck, is dead.

Inspectah Deck fans will be relieved to hear that that there is absolutely no truth to this; the hip-hop artist is in fact alive and well. So how did this rumor start?

During the Awards, fellow Wu-Tang member Raekwon said: “Yo stop the music Premier…yo rest in peace my brother from the WU, Inspectah Deck”.  Suddenly news of the artist’s death was doing the rounds on blogs and other internet sites,  although none of the authorative news sources were reporting that the 30-year-old star was dead.

It is believed that Raekwon was actually referring to the death of Inspectah Deck’s mother, who recently passed away.

According to his Twitter, March 11 has been confirmed as the release date for Deck’s solo album The Rebellion.

Do you think the media frenzy generated by the rumor of his death will help sales of his music to rocket?
