Beauty queen Carrie Prejean and her husband, Oakland Raiders quarterback Kyle Boller, have announced they are expecting their first child.
The couple revealed their news to Fox411.com: “We are just so excited,” the three-months-pregnant Prejean said. “I’m due in May on my grandmother’s birthday. She recently passed away, so that’s very special to us.”
Pregnancy has not been without its challenges for the former Miss California: “I’m trying to stay healthy, but it has been tough. I’ve been getting night sickness,” she said.
Although the happy pair do not know the sex of their unborn child, they are already excited about finding out next week and are getting prepared: “We’ve started thinking about names, but we are keeping it to ourselves for right now. It has been fun looking at baby books.”
Carrie, 23, and Kyle, 29, got hitched last July and expressed their wish to start a family shortly afterwards.
“I have the most beautiful pregnant wife ever, we are so in love and this was just the best news when we found out a couple of weeks ago,” Boller said.
Originally from San Diego, Prejean first gained recognition as Miss California in 2009. During the Miss USA finals, guest judge and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton asked the beauty queen about her views on same sex marriage. Her “prejudicial” response whipped the media up into a frenzy and made sure the influential (and gay) Hilton had plenty to write about on his blog. Although she went on to win first runner-up in the Miss USA competition, she was eventually stripped of her Miss California title due to alleged breach of contract.
