Dr. Frank Ryan was mourned by his many clients and friends yesterday, as the shocking news of his death sent a ripple through Hollywood. His death has also shocked much of the public, as it reminds us just how dangerous it is to text and drive at the same time.
Police have launched an investigation into the car crash that killed Dr. Frank Ryan, plastic surgeon to stars like Janice Dickinson. While it is certain that Dr. Ryan was texting while driving before his death, police are trying to determine whether he was texting at the moment the crash occurred.
“He lived up in Malibu on a tiny street, and he was texting while driving, and he accidentally went over the cliff,” MTV quotes his ex-girlfriend Charmaine Blake as telling People.
According to reports, Dr. Ryan was tweeting a picture of his beloved dog, Jill, immediately before his 1995 Jeep Wrangler went off a cliff in Malibu.
“We haven’t confirmed anything regarding the cause of the collision,” California Highway Patrol officer Steve Reid told the Associated Press, before adding that detectives are “looking into several factors, including texting and Twittering that may have played a role in the accident.”
Dr. Frank Ryan is perhaps most famous for being the surgeon who performed the staggering 10 procedures on Heidi Montag in one day.
His final Twitter message read:“After 25 years of driving by, I finally hiked to the top of the giant sand dune on the pch west of malibu. Much harder than it looks! Whew!”
The message was followed by a picture of his dog, who was seriously injured in the crash and taken to an animal hospital, overlooking the dunes.
