Dean McDermott is in intensive care

Dean McDermott has been rushed to hospital following a dirt biking accident. He crashed on Tuesday while he was out riding with friends, and was reportedly bleeding profusely from his side. Dean was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital, where he is currently recovering in intensive with a punctured and collapsed lung, People reports.

“His friend called me and said he was in the ER,” Dean’s wife, actress Tori Spelling, told the magazine. “At first I was mad. I was pissed that he was out biking and crashed.

“But when I showed up and saw him lying there, and they told me they were admitting him to ICU with a collapsed lung, my heart dropped. My biggest fear had come true.”

While the 43-year-old is expected to make a full recovery, he will remain in the ICU for a few more days.

“He’s in a lot of pain,” Tori says. “He’s taking this as a sign and realizing family is too important to risk his life.”

Dean took to his Twitter account to let fans know he is doing ok.

“Thanks for the well wishes,” he writes. “A collapsed lung is no fun, and is a lengthy heal. Feeling pretty bad today. Day 2 is always the worst.”

This is the second time this year a motorcycle accident has landed Dean in hospital. A fractured shoulder saw the couple decide it was time for Dean to hang up his professional racing boots, and only ride recreationally.

“When I first saw him he just said ‘I’m so sorry,’” Tori says. “That’s when he said, ‘I’ll never do this again. You and the kids mean everything to me.’”

Other celebrities who have recently been in hospital include Katy Perry, Suze Orman, Shawn King and Jennifer Capriati.
