The former Hollywood hunk turned self-embarassing C grade celebrity has done it yet again, it seems. Two years after his teenage daughters posted a video of her severely inebriated father driblling and talking gibberish after a monster binge of alcohol on the internet David Hasselhoff has sunk to a new low.
Hasselhoff, who shot to fame with the lead role in ‘Knight Rider’ , also enjoyed some years as a pop star in Europe. He was the epitome of studliness, gracing many a TV screen for several years as Mitch Buchanan on the lifeguard show ‘Baywatch’. His life, however, took a turn for the worse when he began to succumb to his addiction to alcohol. “Because of my honest and positive relationship with my daughters, who were concerned for my well-being, there was a tape made that night to show me what I was like. I have seen the tape,” he said. “I have learned from it and I am back on my game.”
How severe his addiction was became apparent when his teenage daughter shot a short film of a very drunken Hasselhoff. Many had been aware of the star’s struggle; yet how serious it was came as a shock for many of his fans. The star had fallen from grace. His daughters repose the star for his drinking in the video. His reply to the video being aired across the globe was that he was a recovering alcoholic.
His latest stint is just another to add to the tally. He reportedly accidentally hit a physician and wet himself, which led him to be taken to a hospital for treatment. According to British newspaper The Sun, Hasselhoff’s staff were so concerned about the star’s aggressive behavior after days of drinking they decided to call a doctor. A friend said: “David is very hard to handle when he drinks, often very emotional and aggressive. On this occasion he became so drunk he wet his hotel bed – ruining two mattresses – and was becoming a real pain for staff. His assistant Joe Townley was so concerned he called out a doctor. David was furious and lashed out at him – but mistakenly hit the doctor.”
Hasselhoff, affectionately nicknamed “The Hoff”, was forced to stay in hospital for two days while he obtained treatment and sobered up.
