Christina Aguilera opens up about being a single mom

Christina Aguilera’s split from her husband of five years Jordan Bratman made headlines last month, but during an interview on The Tonight Show last night she made it clear that she is taking being a single mom in her stride.

The singer, one of pop music’s most recognizable voices, knows all about being raised in a one parent household and she sings about her difficult childhood in her songs “I’m OK” on Stripped, and “Oh Mother” on Back to Basics. Her parents divorced when she was young, and although she described things as being very “chaotic” at home, she joked with Jay Leno about how “that turned out fantastic.”

Aguilera’s number one priority now is to make sure that her two-year-old son is happy. She admitted that it’s no smooth sailing being a single working mother, but went on to insist that Max is “just the happiest guy ever and I want to make sure he remains that way”.

Being the first thing he sees in the morning and the last things he sees before he drifts off to sleep “means the world” to the 30 year old, who sings the tiny tot lullabies before bed.

And there is no doubting that little Max is one lucky boy to have his mother’s beautiful melodic voice as the last thing hears every night.
