After his wife, Brooke Mueller, entered rehab following the pair’s drunken Christmas fight, Hollywood bad boy Charlie Sheen is following suit. The actor reportedly checked into a rehab facility on Tuesday, People reports.
“As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility,” his rep said in a statement. “He will take some time off his series ‘Two and a Half Men’.
“Charlie is stressed. He’s tired. The kids are on his mind. Brooke’s on his mind,” a source close to Charlie told People. “A lot of things are on his mind. He didn’t want to get a place where he had the urge to get high. He’s not using and he doesn’t want to. He felt like he needed to get away from negative influences around him and clear his head, rest and take a short break.”
While Charlie’s drug and alcohol passed is well documented in the media, including at least two stays in rehab, the reason for his visit to rehab this time has been labeled as a “preventative measure”.
We’re getting reports from RadarOnline that suggest something completely different: that friends and those close to him had been telling Charlie for weeks he should enter rehab. When his spokespeople released a statement saying Charlie had checked in, he actually hadn’t, and was resisting having to enter the facility.
Charlie Sheen reportedly finally checked into the unknown rehab facility on Tuesday night.
Charlie is currently also facing charges of domestic violence after the infamous fight with his wife in Colorado on Christmas Day. Charlie was arrested after Brooke called the police, saying a fight had gotten out of hand and Charlie was threatening her with a knife. Both had been drinking.
The couple’s twin sons are reportedly going to be looked after by Charlie’s parents.
Charlie Sheen has long battled his addictions, and entered rehab twice.
