Brad Meltzer attempts to decode the Georgia Guidestones

Once again, Brad Meltzer and his team of Scooby-Doo-esque, roving reporters from the TV show Decoded are set to ‘unveil’ another great mystery. This coming Thursday Scooby Meltzer will be tickling the underbellies of all the bedroom conspiracy theorists out there as he tackles the mystery of the Georgia Guidestones.

The show is entitled, “Apocalypse in Georgia.” No fear mongering or sensationalizing there then.

Standing on a hill just outside Atlanta, the stones have been described as America’s Stonehenge, although England’s iconic stone formation can, for now at least, claim genuine mystery.

The “American Stonehenge” was commissioned in 1979 by a man claiming the name R. C. Christian, who told people at the Elberton Granite Finishing Company that he wanted to send a message to mankind – so rumour has it.

So what is Scooby-Doo Meltzer going to do about it?

What time is the last post collection? I've got a cheque for Monsanto.

Before second guessing what Decoded are aiming for, let’s take a look at what the stones say. There are four standing stones with a capstone on top, and a central pillar. They carry ten ideologies which are written in eight different languages – that in itself shows equality.

There is also a slot on the central plinth which looks like a mailbox, so maybe that’s what they’re all about; just a fancy mailbox for the local farmers to post their letters and cheques to Monsanto.

You’re not buying that? Okay, well how about we just read the ‘commandments’ as some are calling them:

1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
2. Guide reproduction wisely – improving fitness and diversity.
3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
4. Rule passion – faith – tradition – and all things with tempered reason.
5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
9. Prize truth – beauty – love – seeking harmony with the infinite.
10. Be not a cancer on the earth – Leave room for nature – Leave room for nature.

Sinister stuff huh? Well, no, not really. It actually seems fairly common sense, but most people get stuck on the first ideology and then start believing there’s a massive government conspiracy to wipe 6.4 billion people off the face of the earth.

That may be so, but let’s face it, the first ideology “Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature” is really saying is that in order to remain in balance with nature, an ideal population would be half a billion worldwide – not, “let’s kill everyone.”

The second one “Guide reproduction wisely – improving fitness and diversity” often leads people to look up eugenics, a program initiated by the Nazis in the 2nd World War, in which Hitler used IBM computers to monitor concentration camps and determine the fittest of the species by subjecting them to heinous ordeals.

Again, if you read carefully and look objectively, the stones merely look to offer an improvement in society, cut back on needless reproduction (you only have to visit your nearest McDonalds to see the result of that) while maintaining cultural diversity. Be fitter, be stronger, be better people. What’s wrong with that?

The third ideology “Unite humanity with a living new language” is where it gets interesting. I can only speculate, but to me it suggests being more in tune with the natural environment; understanding the seasons, the subtle shifts in nature, animal kinship and the like. Again, I see no problem with that.

Number four “Rule passion – faith – tradition – and all things with tempered reason” again just seems like plain old common sense. Don’t be foolhardy by letting your emotions run away with you. Be calm, rational and objective.

[adsense]Numbers five, six and seven all seem interlinked; Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts – human rights issues in their simplest form, a rally call for equality and respect among people.

Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court is the one that makes the conspiracy theorists frenzied about a New World Order, the idea that the planet is heading for dictatorship rule by an elite few. To me it says, let nations continue to be nations and run by their own government, but if any dispute arises between nations, don’t go to war over it – find a middle ground through talking about it.

Avoid petty laws and useless officials – a leaning towards a more balanced ruling system run by people who care, not bumbling, self-interested politicians who serve only their own needs and not those of the people they represent.

Number eight, Balance personal rights with social duties seems to address balance in personal life. We all have to work to survive but we also need time for ourselves, to enjoy life and recreation. We also have to live by the laws set out before us, but we still have the right to live freely.

Prize truth – beauty – love – seeking harmony with the infinite. The infinite could be referencing nature and the universe, you only have to look at fractal geometry to understand that everything is infinite, and you only have to look at a Romanesco cauliflower to see that evidenced in nature.

And finally…

Be not a cancer on the earth – Leave room for nature – Leave room for nature.

That’s pretty self explanatory really – be good to yourself, your neighbour and the world around you. Don’t go dropping your crap all over the sidewalk, or litter and pollute the water and lands; be respectful of the environment, live in harmony with your world, not abuse it like some sort of second rate slave. It provides for you, so look after it.

So yeah, what are the Scooby Decoded Doo team looking for?

If anything they’ll try to show both sides of the story. They’ll investigate R. C. Christian and link him to Thomas Paine (one of the founding fathers). They will then tell you that Paine was an occultist (not true) and that the stones are a pointer to a sinister plot to eradicate the majority of people from the planet, leaving in its wake a harmonious green thinking race of hippies, led by a New World Order who will keep the unruly tree-huggers under control through mind altering drugs.

Pretty much the same as watching TV then.

And then they’ll backtrack and say, “What the hell? They’re just a mailbox for local farmers to send cheques to Monsanto for more exorbitant GM seeds.”

Will Brad Meltzer and his Decoded team unearth the truth about the Georgia Guidestones? They might.

If it wasn’t for those meddlesome kids…

  1. Greetings;

Do you not find it to be rather ironic that when a corporately controlled democracy receives a wink and a nod from the corporately controlled UN to evade a free society in order to incorporate a countries resources it’s called a Liberator, yet, when the peoples of the evaded country sets out to form a resistance in order to protect its countries resources, it is deemed a terrorist organization by the corporately owned medias?

“9-11 was a Ritual Human Sacrifice. That, and the obvious catalyst for the so called “War on Terror”. Behind the scenes, there is only One Party. Our Party. ‘Democracy’ is an illusion which is created to uphold your slavery. Whichever side ‘wins’; the Family wins.” – Hidden_Hand

“Q: (L) What are the blasphemous titles on the heads of the beast?
    A: In God we trust.

    Q: (L) “And the beast that I saw resembled a leopard…”
A: New World Order. U.S. is in sinister plot. Don’t trust. Don’t ignore.” – 6D STO

The very best to you on your journey of discovery,

  2. I agree with you on most every point, other than the “unite mankind with a new living language” part. I think that one’s pointing out that when we lack a means to verbally communicate with one another, misunderstandings arise, which often escalate into larger conflicts. So, as opposed to reviving a dead language, like, say, Latin or Sanskrit, and teaching it to the world, or teaching an existing living language, such as English or Chinese, to everyone, which would seemingly favor one ethnicity/race/religion/region/etc… over another, it’s saying to create a brand new language, like Esperanto, that is not biased toward any group of peoples, so all of mankind can converse with and understand one another. At least that’s how I see it.

    • Here`s what they really meant by that Walter as written in the file they released a year after they were erected.

Unite humanity with living new language

Continents separate peoples, and so does nationality, but language is an even greater barrier to international understanding. Ideas must pass through the prism of different vocabularies and alphabets to be understood. The nations of the world , because of improved communication, are being drawn closer and closer together, making the language barrier an even greater obstacle. This problem should be recognized, and greater efforts should be made to arrive to some creative solution.
A new language, acceptable to all nations, would facilitate world understanding. It would enable the inhabitants of the Earth, regardless of geography, to communicate with each other–the European with the Asian, and the African with the American. What improved transportation has done in bringing people together in space, a common language would do in bringing them together in thought.
No nation need give up the use of its own tongue. All nationalities could continue to cherish there own cultural treasures and their own prized mode of communication. A new language would be a secondary tongue that would be used to promote international understanding.
The development of a new language requires much thought. Some tongues, Russian for example, are too strongly inflected. English grammar on the other hand, is comparatively simple. With modifications, it might be a serviceable instrument. Linguists have already done much to make basic English a readily acquired skill. There may be other alternatives. A language of symbols, for example, might serve a useful service.

  3. Also, to call for the spread of a current living language, like English or Chinese, to all the world’s people would seem to imply a push towards imperialism rather than global collaboration, which would be antithetical to everything else the stones advocate.

  4. I think we should focus on the positive side! What you think about, what you talk about you bring about! What we focus our attention on we will minifest! So if we’re constantly thinking someone is out to get us instead of focusing on solutions and positive ideas then you’ll get EXACTLY what you focus on.

  5. It is obviously an advertisement for the Elbert County Granite Museum right down the road. I give the county credit for a great marketing plan to bring attention to the North Georgia Granite Business. Now if someone were to see a ghost or an Alien, the place would be well on the way to famous!

  6. I believe I saw a commercial in which they are going to say that it is the Tombstone of humanity. They are going to link it to the “end of days” or 2012, end of the world ideas.

    • It`s narrow minded people like you that are the reason for the whole 2012 thing coming up. To “cleanse” the planet of filth like you, thx alot.

  8. I had to chuckle when it referred to it as being “just outside Atlanta.” Um, check your map again. Elberton, the location of the guidestones, is 100 miles outside Atlanta. It is a two hour drive. Yes folks, I know it is a shock, but not everything in Georgia is in the metro-Atlanta area.

  14. These are a little far from Atlanta. They are on the eastern side of the state. I grew up here and there are so many rumors about them. I think the time capsule will answer a lot. But it has an inscription saying date to open but with no date.

  15. Just watched the episode and found it very intriguing. I first heard the whole Mayan Calendar thing maybe 10 years ago – I didn’t know it was popular even in the early 80’s? I do find it strange that as outlandish as these prophecies from the Hopi, maya, Aztecs, I-ching, and Edgar Casey may seem, the strange weather and NASA’s reports of near future sun activity indicate something is headed our way. And I just heard they had to re-paint the runways in Tampa because the north pole has shifted so much recently that the compasses are no longer accurate. If we lose protection from the sun due to weakened poles, we are in for quite a ride.

  16. Funny that you are the authority of information and you can ensure that there are not people in this world that are out to control us and very well maybe these individuals involved. We can rest our worried minds that corruption only occurs in other parts, thank you for your blanket protection. You should ask for a pay raise, protector of the innocent (elite power hungry groups) and defender of all else.Democracy would not exist with non bias journalism like yours.

    • And sanitariums would quickly go out of business without people like you.

If you’re going to point the finger of judgement so vehemently at someone, at least have some hard, well-evidenced facts to corroborate your side of the argument, instead of jumping on the paranoid, conspiracy-theorist bandwagon; you mindless sheep.

  18. Most people will never understand these Guidestones because they do not look at the Big Picture….they are written for a post-apocalyptic world. They do not advocate killing off 6 billion people, only to keep the world population around 500 million, if something were to happen to drastically reduce the population. As for not being a cancer upon the Earth…that is self explanatory, just look at pollution, strip-mining, over-cutting the forests, over-fishing the oceans, all of mankind’s environmental ills upon our planet. Wake Up, People !!!! Time is running out !!!

    • You`re on the right track Richard. What most people also don`t know is that the cosponsors that had the stones erected to begin with also developed a PDF file and released it online one year later that explains everything they wrote perfectly. And one of them was the meaning of the 500 million. They specifically said that just a few generations of single child families would do it. No death whatsoever! But that was back in 1980. World population was a bit over half of what it is now.
HALF, think about that Richard, HALF.

      • That means it has only taken us 31 years to acquire as many people as it took millions of years to create before, or since the beginning. In their 1980 file they said
“today starvation in various parts of the world is not simply a threat-it is reality.” That was back in 1980 Richard. And thos “cosponsors” were amongst some very elite people at the top with quite an influence. Not the type we would want to piss off. With over 5 million people starving to death per year currently, I`ld say we`ve managed just that.

        • ok correction, I was just reading the site amd the creator of it was Joe Fendley the president of the granite company that built them. Tell you guys what, I have plenty of free time so how about I do this; I`ll start posting the entire PDF here in this section. I won`t mind, cause I love the file and would love to share it. So how`s that sound?

    • I am a member of the organization that the guidestone creator also comes from. The guidestones are merely intended to be advice to humanity. Period. There is no mystery.

Meltzer’s team had some hits…but mostly they were way off base. I got a kick out of watching.

  19. Now I`m here to tell you that regardless of the true meaning of the Guidestones, we should all heed their words for the future of our children. When properly followed, those could be the guidelines to an absolute Utopian society. The results of the first two guidelines alone would be world with several societies as developed by Jacques and Roxanne at Several resource based economies as opposed to monetary based ones like now.
One of the keys though is how to MAINTAIN 500 million once we get there. And that`s rather simple really. Below, I`ll post what the first two guidelines REALLY mean. What they SHOULD mean.

  20. “MAINTAIN humanity UNDER 500 million”
If we started having single child birth families next year lets say. BIRTHS, Not just single child families, but single child BIRTHS. There are millions of homeless children that could use a mom and dad. They deserve a home as well. They lost their parents, so lets not punish them. We should create a corporation that advocates FREE adoption. One of te reasons why people don`t adopt more is because of the expenses involved. But if adoption was FREE? We`ld be solving two crisis at once. World hunger by reducing our population with only having single child births, and eliminating the amount of homeless children.
Next lets see how long it would take if we started next year.

  21. 6.8 billion people currently. Lets say 25% are fertile. That`s 1.7 billion. Start having one child per couple. Resulting in 850 million people. Those 850 million people do the same. Resulting in 425 million. Once more and we`ll just say 250 million. That will be the first generation to enter Utopia, and that only took 3 generations of single child births. Less than a century away. Heaven on Earth results.

  22. Next to MAINTAIN under 500 million. The 250 million generation begins the Eternal Cycle.
4 generations having just one GENETIC child per couple, followed by 4 generations of four children per couple GENETICALLY.
Start over and do that forever. Results will be a planet with no more than 5000 million people forever.
    DIVINE guidelines.

  23. “The most pressing world environmental problem is the need to control human numbers. … To control our reproduction is crucial […] Reproduction is no longer explicitly a personal matter. […] It is vitally important that each national government have a considered population policy. The need is urgent and should take precedence over other problems, even those relating to national defense. Population control is a global problem.”
    -R.C. Christian “Common Sense Renewed”

  24. I think the Guide Stones really give us something to think about. If we had followed these guidelines all through history, we wouldn’t be where we are now.

As for following these guidelines now, we either do, or Mother Earth will do it for us.

So far it has been History repeats itself and man never learns. I think the Native Americans had it right!

  25. The guidestones are definitely a set of instructions for the post-apocalyptic world. There is no question about it.

Ask yourselves, why would anyone spend thousands of dollars to erect it years and years in advance? Pure philantrophy? Yeah, I’m sure. Those guidelines are just bursting out of all love for mankind.

Let me tell you folks, what you see in those “commandments” is your future constitution if you don’t wake up REAL SOON. Obviously, people like Brad Meltzer will not help you do that.

If you don’t see the underlying malevolence in those guidelines, God help you. Yeah, they seem quite innocent, but the explanation this Meltzer guy is offering is, to say the least, weak-minded.

  26. I’m going to see these stones for spring break. I am interested in them regardless of what their real meaning is. We can each have our own opinion about them. Apocalypse is a pretty scary scenario for everyone. We will never really know when it is coming. And if you believe in the afterlife, all these great secrets of the world are supposed to be revealed after death occurs. My advice, Live as harmonious an honest as possible, never lose faith.

  27. Hi There Celebritieswithdiseases,
This might be off topic, however, I enjoy watching many of the shows and specials on the history channel. But I’ve been told I’m foolish for believing anything that they say. Here are a few of the shows I watch:

    Engineering an empire

    ancients behaving badly

Are these shows factual, for the most part?

  31. It is a great amusement to me that Christians seem to always be the ones fearing a ‘One World Government’. And yet, THEY are also the ones that actively seek that ALL people join Their faith, share Their beliefs and abolish all other forms of worship. Is that so very different? Is that not the hight of Hypocrisy?
