Respected American broadcast journalist Barbara Walters is set to undergo a heart valve replacement surgery. The 80-year-old announced she is set to have the major operation later this week on her show ‘The View’.
PEOPLE quotes the broadcast journalist as saying: “Later this week, I’m going to have surgery to replace one faulty heart valve.”
Her ‘The View’ co-hosts also only found out that morning, with Barbara deciding: “I thought it was best not to talk about it too far in advance.”
RadarOnline.com reports Barbara plans to recover over the summer, but will be back sooner than we may expect.
“Since the summer is coming up, I can take a nice vacation,” she said. Her recovery period is expected to last three months, after which she’ll be “roaring back in September”.
