Oscar-nominated Anne Hathaway will soon be slipping into the slinky catsuit and donning a pair of razor-sharp claws to reprise the role of Selina Kyle and her alter ego Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film, the Dark Night Rises.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fnatastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” director Nolan announced.
Hathaway follows in the footsteps of famous catwomen Michelle Pfeiffer, who was the highlight of Tim Burton’s 1992 Batman Returns, and Halle Berry, who picked up the award for Worst Actress for her role, but will be remembered nonetheless by many for her sexy curves.
The Dark Knight Rises follows 2005’s Batman Begins and 2008’s The Dark Knight, the latter of which became one of the biggest hits of all time and saw the late Heath Ledger received a posthumous Oscar for best supporting actor in his role as The Joker.
As to who the other villain will be in the third installment of this highly profitable franchise, Warner Bros has announced that Tom Hardy, of Nolan’s Inception, will play villain Bane. “Hardy,” says Nolan, will “”bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies”.
Christian Bale will return as Bruce Wayne and Batman, and Nolan has said this will be his last Batman film.
