Amber Heard comes out as lesbian at GLAAD bash

Hollywood actress Amber Heard took to the red carpet at the GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) 25th anniversary celebration with her partner Tasya van Ree, making it official that she is a lesbian.

The blonde beauty, who stars alongside Johnny Depp in The Rum Diary, spoke to AfterEllen.com about why she chose to come out at this event.

“I think GLAAD is one of the many reasons that I, as a 24-year-old, can come out. I think that organizations like GLAAD make that possible because if it weren’t for opinions being changed, people being influenced, people being engaged to do the right thing, then there would be no prerogative for anyone to come out.

“I personally think that if you deny something or if you hide something you’re inadvertently admitting it’s wrong. I don’t feel like I’m wrong. I don’t feel like millions of people are wrong because they love who they love or they were born how they were born.”

The actress, who has co-starred in Pineapple Express and The Joneses, has been together with Tanya Van Ree since 2008 but the GLAAD bash was their official coming out as an item, reports RadarOnline.

“She is beautiful,” Heard said about her photographer and artist girlfriend. “I mean, you’d have to be crazy not to go out with her!”
