‘Allergic reaction’ to blame for Charlie Sheen’s crazy tantrum

Charlie Sheen, the highest-paid actor on US TV, is trying to play down recent claims of his alleged cocaine and booze-induced tantrum with a prostitute in a hotel suite that saw him hospitalized on Tuesday morning.

The Two and a Half Men star, who rakes in an astounding $600,000 per episode, was staying at the Plaza Hotel, when a night of partying got out of control. Security guards found the father of two naked and intoxicated in his room, which was in a state of disarray with tables and chairs strewn all over the place. According to US magazine Life & Style, they were alerted to the out-of-control situation when they heard screams coming from the room, where they found naked prostitute locked inside a closet “fearing for her life”.

Speaking to, Charlie Sheen said:”The story is totally overblown and overplayed as far as the reality of the scenario.”

Sheen, who was taken to hospital for a mental evaluation after the alleged tantrum went on to say: “I know what went down and that’s where it will stay.”

While his statements were far from revealing, the 45-year-old’s PR team has stepped in to his defense, insisting that incident was caused by an adverse reaction to some medication: “What we are able to determine is that Charlie had an adverse reaction to some medication and was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to be released tomorrow.” His lawyer has made a similar statement.

It is no secret that Sheen has had several run-ins with the law and battled drug and alcohol addictions in the past. As reported by Daily Mail, it is believed that he will be checking into rehab and that he is still deciding which center he will seek treatment from.

“Charlie is going back to rehab,’ a US source said. ‘That’s his plan right now. He knows he has to do something.”

While the personal star’s life may be something of a wreck, according to Hollywood agent Michael Grippo, Fox News reports, this scandal probably won’t have any immediate career repurcussion for Sheen: ““It is unlikely that it will cause the show producers to take any additional actions. Sheen is almost irreplaceable on ‘Two and a Half Men’ and, unless it is a major breach of a behavioral clause in his contract, there is virtually no way that producers will allow this incident to impact the series,” Grippo said. “If the allegations are proven true, however, it may have a negative impact on his upcoming projects.”
